Vibration Measurement and Analysis

ITC provides vibration measurement and analysis services to help you find:

  • The solution to a vibration problem with your product
  • A way to predict a machine's performance before it's put in service
  • The reason a component has prematurely failed

Advanced Measurement Capabilities

  • 44 kHz capture and real-time analyses of up to 11 channels
  • Multi-axis accelerometers
  • A wide range of transducers and acquisition systems
  • Ability to gather CANBUS data from a vehicle network
  • Integrate additional measurements such as sound, strains, and displacements

Advanced Analysis Capabilities

  • A superior combination of analytical and modeling tools
  • Order analysis to find component signatures for rotating machinery
  • Frequency response analysis to determine a component's natural frequencies
  • Operational mode shape analysis to see how a component is moving when it vibrates

Project Profile

Riverbank instability on the Seine River, near the Winnipeg Aqueduct Siphon presented a potential threat to the Aqueduct, and Winnipeg's water supply. The City of Winnipeg Water and Waste Department retained UMA Engineering Ltd. to design measures to stabilize the riverbank, alleviating this threat. The solution was to install about 300 rock columns, replacing the unstable clay with more stable crushed limestone.

UMA called on ITC's expertise to develop a system to monitor and analyze vibration levels on the Aqueduct to ensure its integrity.
