ITC plays an important economic development role in Manitoba by providing technical advice and assistance to Manitoba industry, entrepreneurs and government departments and agencies. ITC is recognized as a critical part of the technical infrastructure required to help individuals and companies increase their competitiveness by developing new or improved products and processes. All of ITC's technical staff provide technical information and advisory services (Technology Transfer) on an as requested basis. ITC helps clients to define and understand technical issues, to develop methods of solving technical problems and frequently assists in the implementation of solutions. In support of these activities, ITC uses its network of contacts and experts across Canada for technical advice and assistance that may not be available in Manitoba. ITC's technical library provides crucial information and support to ITC staff and clients. The library houses a comprehensive collection of books, journals and reports in current and new manufacturing technologies and best practices, such as Lean Enterprise. ITC also has access to many worldwide databases, and has a public Internet access terminal for clients to source technical data.
