3D-printed hip implant lets teenager walk again

Mobelife, a Belgium-based implant design company, has 3D printed a custom hip implant and given a once wheelchair-consigned teenager the ability to walk on her own. Mobelife designed the custom implant using a tomography scan to create a picture of the patient’s unique bone anatomy.  The Swedish teenager received the implant in September 2012 and was walking completely on her own 18 months later.
